Aircraft Parts & FLIGHT CONTROLS

Grades 5–6

This lesson introduces students to the major parts of an airplane and the flight control surfaces pilots use to safely maneuver an aircraft.

Students will discover how aircraft parts work together, how airplanes move through the sky, and how pilots use flight controls to climb, descend, and turn during flight.

AVIATION CAPSTONE MISSION

Grades 5–6

Students apply everything learned throughout the Paladin Aviation STEM course to complete a realistic aviation mission. Working as flight crews, students evaluate weather, aircraft systems, flight controls, navigation, and unexpected challenges while demonstrating leadership, teamwork, and aviation decision-making skills.

NAVIGATION & AIRPORTS

Grades 5–6

Students learn how pilots navigate from one airport to another and how airports are organized to support safe flight operations. Students explore airport identifiers, runways, taxiways, airport diagrams, and basic route planning while participating in a hands-on navigation challenge.
